When one door closes another door opens;

but we so often look so long

and so regretfully upon the closed door,

that we do not see the ones which open for us.

Money may be the husk of many things, but not the kernel.

It brings you food, but not appetite;

medicine, but not health;

acquaintances, but not friends;

servants, but not loyalty;

days of joy, but not peace of happiness.

它带来食物,却带不来胃口;

带来药,却带不来健康;

带来相识,却带不来友谊;

带来仆人,却带不来他们的忠心;

However mean your life is, meet it and live it;

do not shun it and call it hard names.

It is not so bad as you are.

It looks poorest when you are richest.

The faultfounder will find faults even in paradise.

Love your life, poor as it is.

You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours,

even in a poor-house.

The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse

as brightly as from the rich man's abode;

the snow melts before its door as early in the spring.

不管你的生活如何卑微,你都得面对与度过;

With close friends in their lives,

people develop courage and positive attitudes.

Teenagers have the moral support to assert their individuality;

the elderly approach their advanced years with optimism

and on interest in life.

年轻人就有精神支柱来表现自己的个性;

Love is not about "It's your fault", but "I'm sorry.

" Not "where are you", but "I'm right here".

Not" how could you",but "I understand".

Not "I wish you were", but "I'm thankful you are".

As long as a man can keep himself in that attitude of mind,

as long as he can look back on every year

and say, "I grew", he is still young.

The minute he ceases to grow, the minute he says to himself,

"I know all that I need to know,"——that day youth stops.

He may be twenty—five or seventy-five, it makes no difference.

On that day he begins to be old.

Many people spend so much of their life energy

"sweating the small stuff"that

they completely lose touch with the magic and beauty of life.

When you commit to working toward this goal

you will have far more energy to be kinder and gentle.

All of us ought to be able to brace ourselves

for the predictable challenges and setbacks

that crop up every day.

If we expect that life won't be perfect,

we'll be able to avoid that impulse to quit.

But even if you are strong enough to

persist through the obstacle course event

that will completely knock you on your back.

With legs to take me where I go,

With eyes to see the sunset's glow,

With ears to hear what I would know...

Forgive me when I whine!

I'm blessed indeed!

This world is beautiful and fine!

Life isn't fair.It's a bummer,but it's absolutely true.

One of the mistakes many of us make is that

we feel sorry for ourselves, or for others,

thinking that life should be fair,

or that some day it will be.

It's not and it's won't.
